According to Alexander Lukashenko, Belarus and the Tula region can increase trade turnover to $1 billion.
He reported this to the governor of this Russian region, Dmitry Milyaev, with whom he met in Minsk on Tuesday, November 5.
He also expressed hope that the guest’s visit to Belarus will lead to “noticeable results.”
The bar is billion
The President drew attention to the fact that over the past two years, trade turnover between the parties has reached 500 million dollars.
He called this volume “impressive” given that in the first 9 months of 2024 “we added 37% – a colossal growth.”
Therefore, a billion dollars is not such a high bar for us today, the head of state’s press service quotes him as saying.
During the dialogue, Lukashenko identified the most promising areas for cooperation.
Cooperation and supplies
Among these, production cooperation is mentioned, the advantages of which the Belarusian leader sees in net profit, technology transfer, implementation of innovations, ensuring technological sovereignty, and the creation of new jobs.
Lukashenko added: both sides already have relevant experience: special equipment is produced by the Minsk Automobile Plant and the Splav association.
I have noticed that, for example, Tulazheldormash is showing interest in cooperation with Belarusian partners, and Belarusian Railways is showing interest in its products.
The President named the supply of Belarusian equipment to the Russian region, including MAZ trucks, as another promising area of cooperation.
He also considers the implementation of a project to launch electric buses and build charging stations in the Tula region to be promising.
“The direction of deliveries of Belarusian agricultural machinery is also promising,” the head of state informed.
Science, agriculture, construction, housing and communal services
He considers scientific cooperation, agriculture, construction, and the housing and utilities sector to be equally promising for both sides.
According to Lukashenko, Minsk is ready to increase the volume of supplies of food products and agricultural raw materials to the Tula region.
In addition, Belarusian enterprises “are ready to participate in the design and construction of livestock complexes, on a turnkey basis.”
Belarus is also ready to share its experience in the areas of construction and housing and communal services, the head of state said.
