Creditworthiness of Belarusians to be assessed in a new way

08.11.2024 15:09

From March 1 next year, banks, microfinance and leasing organizations will use the same approaches when assessing the creditworthiness of Belarusians.

We are talking about the application of a new scheme for assessing the solvency of citizens taking out loans.

This information was made public by the press service of the National Bank of the Republic.

It is noted that from March 1, 2025, financial institutions will have to use the debt burden indicator when concluding leasing and microloan agreements with Belarusians.

Please note: the specified indicator should not exceed 40% – as is the case when concluding loan agreements.

However, if Belarusians want to arrange a lease for residential premises, then in this case the figure is 90%.

In addition, financial institutions are required to compare a citizen’s income after paying all payments with the amount of the minimum subsistence level.

If the income is less than the subsistence minimum budget level, the loan will be issued with an excess of the debt burden indicator.

Another innovation: financial institutions have been granted the right not to use the debt burden indicator if the amount of the microloan secured by movable property does not exceed 10 base units (currently 400 rubles).
