Belarus is included in the group of countries with a very high level of human development.

What place does Belarus occupy in terms of human development?
According to the Ministry of Economy, in terms of human development, the country ranks 69th among 193 countries (data for 2022).
In terms of life expectancy, the country has come close to its European neighbors. At the same time, Belarus has one of the lowest infant mortality rates, and maternal mortality is virtually non-existent.
Last year, the country ranked 57th out of 207 countries in the education index.
One hundred percent coverage of five-year-old children in preparation for the first stage of general secondary education has been achieved.
In terms of adult literacy and coverage of the employed population with basic, general secondary and vocational education, the country is approaching 100%.
There are 254 university students and postgraduates per 10,000 people in the country, which is 1.4 times higher than the 1993 figure and corresponds to the European level.
Real incomes of citizens have increased by 4.7 times over 30 years, real wages by 6.6 times. Pensions are also increasing, and stability of social payments is ensured.
The unemployment rate is one of the lowest: according to the methodology of the International Labor Organization, it was 3.5% last year, and in the second quarter of this year it dropped to 3%.
The structure of household expenditure has improved significantly. In 1995, food products accounted for 61.6% of expenditure, last year – 38.6%.
The country is ahead of Russia and other neighbors in terms of car provision. Compared to 1993, it has increased more than 4.5 times.
In terms of housing provision, the country occupies one of the leading places in the CIS – 29.9 square meters per person, which is one and a half times higher than in 1993. More than 94% of the housing stock is privately owned.
The Ministry of Economy noted that the above-mentioned achievements are also recognized at the international level. In the Sustainable Development Goals achievement rating, the country ranks 30th among 167 countries, leading among the CIS countries.
