In the first six months of this year, bank employees in Belarus identified 323 counterfeit banknotes.
Of these, 321 banknotes were counterfeit and two more coins turned out to be counterfeit.

The most popular fakes
It is noted that among all counterfeits, the largest number were American dollars – 80.2%.
In second place are Russian rubles (11.8% of counterfeit Russian banknotes were detected in six months).
Third place goes to the single European currency (6.8% counterfeit euros), fourth place goes to the Belarusian ruble (0.9%).
Compared to the first 6 months of 2023, the total amount of “fake” money in the country has decreased by 19.7%.
It is specified: the number of counterfeit dollars decreased by 25.6%, euros by 26.7%, and Belarusian rubles by 2 times.
But the number of counterfeit Russian rubles, on the contrary, increased – by 111.1%.
Among Belarusian cities, the leader in terms of the largest amount of counterfeit money detected in the first half of 2024 was Minsk – 55.7% of the total volume.
In total, counterfeit money was confiscated during the specified period in 35 settlements of the country.
Denominations
As for the denominations of banknotes, among American currency, the most frequently found counterfeit bills were hundred-dollar and fifty-dollar bills – 88% and 12%, respectively.
Compared to the first half of 2023, the number of counterfeit hundred-dollar bills decreased by 9.5%, and those with a denomination of 50 dollars – by 67.4%.
Counterfeit banknotes of 5,000, 2,000 and 1,000 rubles were found among the Russian currency.
Compared to the first half of 2023, the number of “fake” five-thousanders has increased by 112.5%.
Counterfeit 500, 200, 100, 50, 20, 5 and 2 euro notes were discovered (in isolated cases).
The largest number was fake 50 euro notes – 59.1%. I also found 1 counterfeit 5 euro note and two counterfeit 2 euro coins.
The number of counterfeit 500 euro notes decreased by 7 times, 200 and 100 euro notes by 1 banknote of each denomination, but 50 euro notes increased by 2 units.
As for Belarusian rubles, counterfeit 2009 banknotes with a denomination of 100 rubles (3 pieces) were found.
