Since the beginning of this year, mutual trade turnover between Belarus and Russia has grown by 8.5%.

Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko announced this during a meeting with his Russian counterpart Mikhail Mishustin.

As reported by the press service of the Belarusian government on its official telegram channel, the event took place within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Forum in Yerevan.

According to Golovchenko, the growth of trade between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus by 8.5% occurred “against the backdrop of a serious jump last year.”

The politician interprets this figure as evidence of the correct course chosen, which resulted in a positive result of cooperation “in all areas.”

He added: against the backdrop of record figures for 2023, this also speaks of the significant mutual potential of the economies of the two countries.

The Belarusian Prime Minister named the key vectors of cooperation with Russia – industrial cooperation, technological sovereignty and independence from imports.

As for the latter, according to Golovchenko, the Ministry of Industry and Trade is implementing a number of programs aimed at the rapid replacement of “imported components not only in hardware, but also in software.”
