The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development has revised its forecast for the dynamics of the Belarusian economy.
The forecast has been significantly improved. According to updated expectations, large figures for Belarus's GDP growth are expected both for the current year and for the next.
This is stated in the latest EBRD report on regional economic development.
It says that this year Belarus's GDP will grow by 4.2%, but next year growth will slow to 2.5%.
For comparison: in May, the bank predicted growth of the Belarusian economy by 2.8% and 2.2%, respectively.
The financial institution's specialists cite the results of the country's economic development for the first half of 2024 as the reasons for revising the previous forecast.
In particular, analysts note the recovery of industry, construction and trade that occurred during this period after the previously recorded decline.
In addition, the report notes, the republic’s agriculture showed positive growth dynamics from January to June.
At the same time, the EBRD notes weak performance in the information and communications sector.
According to the bank’s experts, there are also difficulties in terms of exports and imports due to the loss of markets and logistical problems.
However, experts called Belarus’s foreign exchange reserves, as well as the exchange rate, stable.
