Very often, the hallway in an apartment is a narrow, elongated space.
The situation is complicated by the lack of natural light and closed doors to the rooms, which makes the corridor look dark.
What can be done with it, was explained by the expert of the online publication BelNovosti, designer Yulia Tychino.
First, you can go for an open plan, combining the hallway with the kitchen and living room. Leave only small partitions, columns between the hallway and the rooms, or use different finishes to mark the zones.
Sometimes redevelopment is impossible for a number of reasons. In this case, try increasing the lighting in the hallway.
Lighting fixtures will help you with this – spotlights or built-in lamps, LED strips, etc.
Color is important. The decoration of a long, narrow and dark corridor should be done in light colors, and the end walls can be made accent. Paint them in a bright color or make them textured, finishing them to look like wood, concrete, stone, etc.
Light-toned walls harmonize beautifully with warm shades of natural wood. Use this effect when choosing flooring.
As for furniture, the best option would be narrow and elongated pieces. And with the help of a large mirror, you will be able to add light and visually expand the space, thereby making it more voluminous.
To decorate the ceiling, you can use slats or other modern solutions that will change the geometry of the space and create a stylish accent.
