Often, rooms that lack natural light look cramped and even gloomy.
However, you shouldn’t be discouraged and leave the space in this state.
There are simple but very effective solutions that allow you to turn a dark room into a light and cozy one.

These techniques were shared by Yulia Tychino, an expert in the field of design and interior design for the online publication BelNovosti.
Base color
In any room, the main color determines the tone of the entire home interior.
Therefore, in rooms where there are no windows, you should not use dark and deep shades.
The latter absorb light and provide an even darker atmosphere in the space.
Designers recommend white, beige, cream and light gray tones for such spaces.
Pastel shades are also suitable - blue, pink or mint.
Contrast
A slight contrast will help to eliminate boredom in the interior, which is achieved through:
- dark frames of paintings or photographs;
- furniture that is darker than the walls;
– decor in rich colours (pillows, vases, textiles).
Lighting
In a windowless room, lighting replaces natural light.
Therefore, a ceiling lamp alone will not save the situation – several levels of lighting are needed.
A chandelier or built-in lamps with warm, soft light can be used as the main light source.
Local light sources – table lamps, floor lamps, sconces.
Consider decorative lighting as well – LED strips, lighting for shelves, mirrors or niches.
Additional elements
Mirrors that reflect light will create the effect of more space.
And in order not to overload it, you can place tables made of glass or acrylic in the room.
Glossy and reflective surfaces will add light.
