If you are the owner of a narrow and elongated hallway, this does not mean that the only way out is to put up with the existing state of affairs.
Expert of the online publication BelNovosti, designer Yulia Tychino sees the solution to the problem in redevelopment, but there are other ways to expand the corridor – at least visually.
Color
Light shades make the room appear much larger than it actually is. Since the corridor receives minimal natural light, use color, ideally white, to help.
It will brighten the hallway and make it more spacious.
True, this method has a drawback, because white is a very easily soiled color. Therefore, you may prefer to paint the walls in beige, soft blue, pale lilac and other pastel shades.
Glossy surfaces
A glossy floor in a light shade and a reflective ceiling can make a narrow hallway appear a little wider. If you decide to use this trick, choose the same color for the floor and ceiling.
Take a closer look at two-level stretch ceilings with hidden lighting – not only will the room appear larger, but an additional source of light will appear in it.
Mirrors
A mirror is often used to visually enlarge a space.
To make a narrow hallway look wider, hang two mirrors on one wall and place a painting on the opposite wall.
Arch
Owners of apartments with a narrow corridor should avoid doors connecting the hallway and other rooms, because they steal your precious square meters.
Decorate doorways with arches, install sliding doors, or make a macrame curtain.
