The table in the kitchen, if there is room for it, should be more than just convenient for eating.
If necessary, it becomes part of the work area when it is necessary to prepare large quantities of food, for example for holidays.
Yulia Tychino, an expert of the online publication "BelNovosti" in the field of design and interior, told how to choose a kitchen table.
It is necessary to take into account not only the size of the table and its shape. The expert considers the design, material and style to be mandatory details.
Size
The size depends on the number of people permanently residing in the house.
On average, one person will need 50-60 cm in width and 35-40 cm in depth.
Form
If the table is square or rectangular, then it can be moved into a corner to free up space in the kitchen.
Such models are compact and do not take up much space.
However, round and oval tables look more cozy and elegant. But from the point of view of saving free space, they are not so practical.
Design
You can find a transformable table, a folding or extendable table, or the most simple design – a tabletop with legs.
It all depends on the space in the kitchen.
Material
The choice of material may depend on the style of the room.
Wood is suitable for classic interiors – this is the most practical and durable option.
You can also choose MDF or laminated chipboard as a more budget option, but the table will not last long - the material is afraid of water.
Glass is suitable for more modern design solutions.
A glass countertop can visually increase the space in the kitchen.
But the table is not as practical as one made of wood or chipboard – it is better not to place heavy objects on the glass surface.
Style
With the classics everything is clear: it can be a wooden table.
Loft and minimalism do not imply any frills. Such materials as metal and glass are in use.
The modern kitchen follows the features of minimalism, loft style and also does not provide for an abundance of decor.
