Even if you got a niche about two meters long as a "food block", do not despair - you can make a full-fledged kitchen out of it. If only there was a desire!
BelNovosti online publication expert and designer Yulia Tychino shared advice on how to rationally use available space.
1. Make the most of the room's height by placing wall cabinets all the way up to the ceiling.
Here you can hide everything you need, from dishes and household appliances to food supplies.
A removable panel can be placed along the top edge of the cabinets – it will hide the exhaust pipe, which usually spoils the entire look of the room.
Even the space above the refrigerator and dining table should not be left empty. It is perfect for placing small open shelves or cabinets here.
2. As for household appliances, there are two requirements: they must be built-in and compact.
Of course, you will have to spend money on making a kitchen set according to individual measurements, but this also has an advantage - a set with a built-in oven, hob, microwave and dishwasher will fit so well into the space allocated for it that there will not be the slightest gap, which means that food particles will not fall in here.
3. To gain a little extra space, consider ditching the standard door.
You can either remove it completely or, at a minimum, replace it with a roll-back option.
4. If your family does not have a tradition of gathering together for breakfast, lunch or dinner, and its members eat separately, ask the craftsmen to make a folding table for you, designed for 1-2 people.
Its advantage is that when it is not needed, it can be easily removed and will not get in the way.
