Small Apartment – Small Furniture: Why You Should Abandon This Stereotype

Some owners of small apartments firmly believe that only compact furniture is suitable for a small apartment.

However, this is not always true, says Yulia Tychino, an expert at the online publication BelNovosti and designer.

Although this approach allows you to save a few square meters, the functionality and usefulness of such interior items is highly questionable.

What does this mean? Let's illustrate with an example: let's say you bought a small sofa for your living room. Now imagine that guests have come to visit you. Will you be able to fit everyone on the tiny sofa? That's the point.

It is indeed necessary to save valuable space, but it should be done wisely so as not to harm your own convenience and comfort.

Opt for a corner or fold-out sofa.

These pieces of furniture are maximally functional and, in addition to everything else, take up much less space compared to bulky models.

In addition, when decorating a small apartment, it is worth thinking about the correct placement of the same sofas, armchairs, tables, etc.

Try to ensure that there are wide passages between objects - this will allow you to easily "maneuver" in your own apartment.

If you decide to get a coffee table (which is not the best option for a small room), do not place it right next to the sofa, as you will have to constantly move it. Instead, choose a small coffee table and place it to the side.

This way, you will preserve the table’s basic functions (for example, the ability to put a magazine or a cup of coffee) and free up the passage to the sofa.
