Stop thinking that windowsills are only good for placing houseplants, books or some kind of decor on them.
Expert of the online publication BelNovosti, designer Yulia Tychino recommends taking a closer look at much more effective ways of using them, which will be especially relevant for people living in an apartment with a small kitchen.
Additional work surface
To convert a window sill into an additional workspace, install a countertop along its entire length.
Choose granite or marble - these materials are the strongest and highest quality. In addition, they are resistant to external factors and will serve you for a long time.
Bar counter
A bar counter is a stylish and functional element, which, among other things, takes up little space, especially if you make it from a window sill.
The bar counter can serve not only as a dining area or a place to relax, where you can drink your morning coffee and admire the view from the window. It is also perfect for work. Place shelves and cabinets for office supplies on the windowsill, put a laptop, and a cozy mini-office is ready.
Place for a vegetable garden
If you don’t agree to remove the flower pots from the kitchen windowsill, at least plant some spices and leafy greens in them.
Getting a harvest in your own kitchen is easy if you follow simple steps. You will need three or four flower pots, soil and seeds. After planting, provide regular watering and the right temperature. Bright sunlight will provide a windowsill where your plants will be placed. Soon you will see the first results of your work.
