In the world of design, as in other areas, situations often arise when the actual result does not meet the expectations placed on it.
To avoid such disappointments, it is important to be aware of the most common mistakes.
Expert of the online publication BelNovosti, designer Yulia Tychino shared information about typical mistakes encountered in the process of interior design.
Ornate details
Expensive, lush and ornate elements are an integral part of interiors decorated in the Baroque, Rococo, Empire or Classic styles.
But in city apartments, which cannot boast of their dimensions, their use is, at the very least, unreasonable: they take up valuable square meters, increase cleaning time and do not allow you to relax and feel comfortable.
Total beige
Combining several shades in one interior is indeed not an easy task, but this does not mean that you should choose only one color for your apartment.
The choice, for obvious reasons, often falls on beige, since it looks noble, stylish and unobtrusive and is an excellent background for bright details. But such monochrome beige classics have already become boring.
Therefore, you have two options: forget about the existence of monochrome or opt for more trendy shades: green, pistachio, etc., complementing them with graphic prints.
Multi-level ceilings
This type of ceiling design was welcomed in the distant 2000s, when they were used to demonstrate high status and wealth.
Those times are long gone - now it is not necessary to show off your financial status, so it will be much better if the ceilings in your home are simple and laconic.
Furniture along the wall
Furnishing along the walls is a great option as it leaves a lot of space, but it is not always ideal. If you have a large living room, place the sofa closer to the center and put a desk behind it. In the kitchen, you can use a kitchen island if the room feels empty.
Unthoughtful little things
During the renovation process, the main focus is on the choice of furniture, wall and floor finishing, plumbing, decor and other important aspects. Minor details completely escape attention, and they are quite capable of spoiling the impression of the highest quality renovation.
For example, cheap radiators in the kitchen can ruin all efforts to create a stylish interior, as can stretch ceilings with an old profile or tables covered with oilcloth.
