3 Forbidden Interior Design Techniques That Make Designers Tick

Interior design can be compared to a real art that requires precision and taste: just one small mistake can turn a stylish space into a tasteless and cheap one.

Expert of the online publication BelNovosti, designer Yulia Tychino listed the most common mistakes that should be avoided in order to avoid disappointment and create a harmonious interior.

Wallpaper with a garish print

In the 90s, it was fashionable to stick bright wallpaper with flowers and patterns on the walls. But now such wallpaper is outdated: it makes the apartment gloomy and cramped, the eyes are constantly dazzled, and the wall seems to compress the space.

Plain wallpaper or options with unobtrusive patterns are better suited for a modern interior, as they look simple, laconic and create an ideal base for other interior elements: furniture, textiles, decor, etc.

Solid furniture

Simplicity, a large amount of free space and light are in trend now, so you shouldn’t choose bulky furniture for furnishing your apartment.

It takes up a lot of space, restricting maneuvers and leaving no chance for other, more necessary things.

Over time, U-shaped sofas and multi-section wardrobes become a real problem. Want to create a modern interior? Give it a chance to rearrange or replace furniture, which will not require serious financial investments or physical effort.

Cold lighting

Cool shades of light are not recommended for use in home interiors. There is perhaps only one exception: the high-tech style, where blue lighting is used for decorative purposes. However, even in this case, caution should be exercised and prolonged exposure to blue light on vision should be avoided.
