Despite the fact that everyone is trying to make the interior more modern and fashionable, some Soviet habits in apartment decoration still remain.
As a result, the housing begins to look less presentable.
Therefore, it is worth getting rid of the three most common habits, notes Yulia Tychino, an expert on interior design issues for the online publication BelNovosti.
What do they consist of?
"Everything is the same as everyone else"
Many people in Soviet times simply tried to keep up with their neighbors and friends: they personally didn’t like many things, but they had to “keep up the bar.”
You shouldn't make the interior typical: this deprives the home of individuality.
"Exhibition" of dishes
Many remember Soviet sideboards that demonstrated "wealth" in the form of various sets. This method of decoration has long looked old-fashioned.
If you don't want to worsen the interior, then use compact shelves instead of sideboards. But you should display decorative elements, books, plants on them, rather than dishes.
Kits
In Soviet times there was not much choice, so furniture was bought in groups. But now such standard solutions will make the furnishings very cheap.
Therefore, it is better to combine furniture than to use standard solutions.
