The optimal solution for decorating a kitchen backsplash looks like large-format matte tiles with a small pattern applied to them.
Choose a light shade and a multi-colored pattern - on such a surface, dirt is very difficult to notice, while a rough surface will mask streaks and splashes.
Why should tiles be large? It's simple: they are easier to clean than small tiles.
Not glossy, but matte surfaces
Gloss is a stylish and effective solution that visually increases the area of the room, while the smooth and even texture does not allow dirt, grease and moisture to be absorbed.
But there is also a significant disadvantage: all splashes and even fingerprints are visible on glossy surfaces, and after cleaning with a damp cloth, streaks remain.
If you are not a fan of cleaning, give preference to matte surfaces: they bring more warmth and comfort to the room, and at the same time are easy to clean, and, in addition, do not fade under the influence of sunlight.
Dark grout
Light-colored grout is a traditional solution when laying tiles, but if you want to make future cleaning easier, use dark-colored grout.
It is much more practical and, in combination with light tiles, emphasizes the design of the tiles and adds volume to them. This is a stylish and up-to-date solution, especially if the kitchen interior is decorated in black and white tones.
