The dream of many people is to live in beautiful and stylish apartments that are also well equipped.
Expert of the online publication BelNovosti, designer Yulia Tychino suggests not to put off the fulfillment of your desires for later, but instead step by step transform your home into a cozy nest.
Get rid of the clutter
Let's imagine that you live in an old apartment with renovations that are long overdue. There is old burgundy linoleum on the floor, a lopsided sideboard in the corner, a chandelier that your grandfather brought from Czechoslovakia hanging from the ceiling. You have to sleep on a sagging sofa, and the only attractive thing in the room is a TV stand.
Unfortunately, this is what many apartments look like. However, instead of ignoring these inconveniences, let's gradually get rid of old things.
The first step to creating a cozy atmosphere is to tidy up. Throw away everything you don’t use, sell or give away unnecessary items, such as an old tea set or Soviet figurines. If you rent an apartment, discuss with the landlord the possibility of doing some repairs or temporarily putting things in storage.
Pay attention to small details that create a sense of disorder. If there are figurines, photos, vases and books on the shelves, table and nightstand that you do not use, put them in a box and put them away. Leave some items to create a beautiful composition from them. For example, place a framed photo, a vase with dried flowers and several books in bright covers on a shelf in the center of the wall - this way you will be able to create a very nice accent with your own hands.
Paint the walls light
Light walls have always been considered the ideal background for the interior. They are suitable not only for small apartments, as they visually increase the space, but also for large houses.
The popularity of white, milky and grey surfaces is explained by the fact that they allow you to easily change accents with textiles, paintings, posters and other decorative elements - an example of this can be Scandinavian and minimalist interiors with light walls and ceilings.
Place emphasis
After painting the walls, you need to decide which details will liven up the interior. It is important not to overdo it, as white is a good background, but not for ten different colors at the same time.
To avoid chaos, choose accents in advance by studying harmonious combinations of shades: for example, beige goes well with red and emerald, gray with purple, pink and dark brown.
It is also useful to develop visual acuity by looking at photographs of other people's interiors and remembering the elements you like to use in your apartment.
