Correctly fitting vintage details into a modern interior is not an easy task even for a professional, let alone for ordinary people.

Expert of the online publication BelNovosti, designer Yulia Tychino agrees: it is much easier to decorate a snow-white space in Scandinavian style and complement it with bright color accents than to mess around with retro details.

However, this is not a reason to get rid of old pieces of furniture made in the USSR: a sideboard, chest of drawers, nightstand, table, wardrobe, etc.

They should not be thrown away at least because, unlike modern furniture, Soviet furniture can boast durability and good quality.

Even if the appearance of the furniture leaves much to be desired, you can fix it.

If the furniture is in good condition and successfully copes with the functions assigned to it, it can be restored: covered with fresh varnish, replaced with upholstery or painted.

After the manipulations are done, the furniture will become beautiful and atmospheric, they will look great in the interior and will help save money, because you will not have to buy new furniture.

Note: it is not necessary to use old furniture only for its intended purpose: you can turn a table with carved legs into a sink stand, and an old nightstand into an ottoman.
