Construction is a complex and responsible process. In the construction of any building, one of the primary roles is played by the correct selection of materials.
The expert of the online publication BelNovosti, designer Yulia Tychino, has her own preferences on this matter – she does not recommend using certain building materials, as they can become a “black hole” for the family budget.
Ondulin
For unknown reasons, some people (and a significant number) consider this material to be almost eternal, while in the best case its “lifespan” does not exceed 25 years.
And this is provided that it will be used in tandem with modern bitumen mastics, and the conditions of its application will be ideal. If you do not spend money on special treatment, you will not have time to blink an eye, as ondulin will become unusable.
Aerated concrete
The material itself is not so bad, but if it falls into the wrong hands, it’s all over.
The main problem associated with aerated concrete is that it is very difficult to install it correctly and select the right density of the material – even for an experienced and responsible specialist. Therefore, in order to avoid unnecessary costs, it is better to refuse aerated concrete at the planning stage.
Glass-magnesite sheets
Glass-magnesite sheets are nothing more than a reinforced mixture of sawdust and magnesite.
In general, the material is not bad, and it can be used - only if it is of high quality. Thus, work with SML should be performed by a specialist who, at the stage of choosing building materials, will check the quality of the sheets, paying attention to their strength and low water absorption.
