Why You Might Need Moldings: Let's look at the kitchen example

Moldings are three-dimensional strips that can be applied to any flat surfaces – walls, ceilings and even furniture.

Expert of the online publication BelNovosti, designer Yulia Tychino told us what problems in the kitchen can be solved with the help of moldings.

Place emphasis

With moldings you can make your kitchen walls or ceiling much more interesting and draw attention to other decorations.

For example, the planks can be used to make frames – for paintings, posters, panels, lamps, mirror panels or wallpaper.

Zoning the space

With moldings you can highlight a dining or work area or “isolate” a corner that you use for relaxation.

The advantage is that the space will not be overloaded with partitions, screens and other standard zoning tools.

Depending on how clear you want the transition between areas to be, use smooth or patterned moldings that match or contrast with the trim.

Create volume

If you want to transform a basic interior, you can add volume to it using volumetric planks. As a result, the interior will be deeper and more dynamic.

When placing moldings, consider the visual effect they create: vertical lines visually increase the height of the ceiling, while horizontal lines make the kitchen more spacious and narrow walls wider.
