The first thing you should focus on when decorating a bathroom is not beauty, but functionality and practicality.
An expert of the online publication BelNovosti, designer Yulia Tychino, told us which bathroom design techniques should be avoided if the thought of daily cleaning fills you with horror.
Mirror that visit too low
A mirror wall directly above the sink does look very beautiful and impressive, but it is completely impractical, since it will be covered with splashes after each use of the sink.
If you decide to place a mirror directly behind the faucet, be prepared for it to be covered in stains, which means the bathtub will look untidy.
Soap and glass for brushes on the sink
Soap and a glass with toothbrushes in it are usually placed on the sides of the sink, which threatens the formation of plaque and unsightly soap marks underneath them.
The solution will be wall holders above the sink - it is convenient and the surface of the sink will remain unoccupied, which means cleaning will become much easier.
The gap between the bathtub and the floor
Until recently, communications under the bathtub were laid with tiles. This interior technique had to be abandoned due to its inconvenience - access to the pipes was not provided in this case.
It is much more convenient to install a regular screen that can be easily removed. And it is better not to leave a gap between the screen and the floor, as this place will turn into a dust trap.
Before purchasing, carefully measure the distance from the edge of the bathtub to the floor and choose a model that will completely cover the space, eliminating the possibility of dirt getting in.
