The dark color scheme has many fans, which is not surprising: an interior with dark walls has a stylish and dramatic look.
But, as the expert of the online publication BelNovosti, designer Yulia Tychino , accurately noted, only when the owners of the apartment followed all the rules for working with this palette and did not make the mistakes that we talk about in this article.
Not enough light
When planning a dark interior design, special attention should be paid to lighting. If only one ceiling lamp is installed in the room, the room will become gloomy and uncomfortable, and rich dark shades will lose their individuality and visually reduce the space.
And one more thing: a dark background really goes well with bright color accents, but an effective contrast can only be achieved with high-quality and varied lighting.
Lack of gloss
Due to their ability to reflect light and thus visually make a room larger, glossy surfaces are especially relevant for dark rooms, which, we repeat, already look smaller than they actually are.
Shiny details also add solemnity to the interior in dark tones. If such elements are missing, the room will certainly become boring and lose its zest, which was not emphasized in any way.
Simple furniture
Dark color can take on (and does take) the role of an excellent background, accentuating various interior items and drawing the eye to them.
If you furnish such a room with simple and inconspicuous furniture, the resulting space will become boring and faceless, and the dark walls will lose their aesthetics, although they could have displayed the objects in a favorable light.
Previously, we talked about how to make an interior look more expensive.
