How to store things on the balcony so that it does not turn into a warehouse: 3 ideas for convenient and beautiful storage

A balcony in an apartment, especially a small one, often resembles a storage area for necessary (and not so necessary) things.

Expert of the online publication BelNovosti, designer Yulia Tychino, is against the thoughtless cluttering of the loggia – instead, she suggests organizing smart and beautiful storage here.

Freestanding wardrobe

The first thing that comes to mind when choosing a storage place is a cabinet. It is practical and convenient, and it can be installed on the balcony even after renovation, if such a location was not initially planned.

An even better option is a sliding wardrobe, since limited space does not always allow for a swing wardrobe. But if the configuration of the balcony allows you to open the doors (the protruding window sill does not interfere), you can choose a swing wardrobe.

No matter which cabinet you choose, you'll get a convenient place to store bulky items like a vacuum cleaner, mop and bucket, and other cleaning supplies that aren't used often.

Built-in wardrobe

Unlike a free-standing wardrobe, which can be installed at any time, a built-in wardrobe should be planned at the renovation stage.

The advantage of this solution is that you can use the available space as efficiently as possible. If the cabinet takes up all the space allocated for it (from floor to ceiling), is equipped with a push-to-open mechanism and does not have bright fittings, it will blend into the interior and become almost invisible.

Rack

If you don't want to clutter up your already small balcony space with a massive cabinet with doors, consider using a traditional shelving unit as a shelving system.

It looks lighter and airier, but the organization of storage on it requires careful consideration, since all of them will be in sight. The rack is not suitable for storing canned goods, household chemicals and tools, but will be a great place for toys, books, indoor plants and beautiful dishes.

Instead of a rack, you can install an open corner cabinet, which will be an ideal solution if the glazing reaches the wall.

Previously, we talked about how to make a neutral interior brighter.
