In addition to this method of raising the ceiling, there are several others that are no less effective and simple.
Wooden floor
If you use light wood species as a floor covering and, in addition, make the floor shiny with varnish, the interior will be deeper, and the gaze of all those present will be directed not to the ceiling, but to the parquet.
If the walls and ceiling are decorated in light colors, you can try choosing a dark-colored floor covering that will attract attention and seem to dissolve under your feet.
Low furniture
An effective way to change the proportions of a room and make it more spacious is to choose low furniture for rooms with low ceilings.
Flat sofas and armchairs, small chests of drawers and nightstands, low tables – all these interior elements visually add centimeters to the ceiling height. It is important to remember: the higher and larger the furniture in the room, the less distance there will be to the ceiling and the lower it will seem.
Elongated doorway
A low ceiling in a room often causes discomfort. And if the doorway is also low, the atmosphere in the room can become truly oppressive.
But this problem is easy to solve - if the characteristics of the wall allow, increase the height of the doorway. This will make the room more spacious, which will make it more pleasant to be in.
Another option is to install a transom, i.e. a small window, above the door. It will visually raise the ceiling, add light to the room, and is a beautiful decorative element in itself.
