If one room is no longer enough, and you are not planning to move anytime soon, you should think about how to “optimize” the available space.
Expert of the online publication BelNovosti, designer Yulia Tychino, suggests using an interesting idea that does not require approval or legalization and that can be implemented at any time.
All you need to do is divide the space into zones, and shelves and sofas will help with this. By correctly arranging the furniture, you can create the illusion of two rooms instead of one.
The key is to choose an open shelving unit that will look light and airy, without cluttering up the space and allowing sunlight into the separated part of the room.
Alternatively, use a shelf with a rotating mechanism, especially if you want to watch TV in both the bedroom and the living room.
No structural changes will be required in either case, although the area of the room must be at least 15 square meters in order to accommodate a bed for the owners and a sofa for guests.
If you plan to divide a room with a sofa, place a bookcase or chest of drawers behind it to make the transition smoother and to prevent the sofa in the middle of the room from standing out too much from the overall picture.
