It is important to organize the storage system correctly in the kitchen. Because some things should always be at hand, while others may not be used for months, it is worth finding a suitable place for each thing.
Expert of the online publication BelNovosti, designer Yulia Tychino , told us which storage methods are best to use to easily reach each necessary item, thereby avoiding unnecessary movements.
Closed storage areas
This is one of the most common ways of organizing space in the kitchen, which allows you to create a harmonious and functional room.
The main goal of this approach is to hide all unnecessary items as much as possible and free up the work area, which is achieved by using closed cabinets and drawers. Built-in appliances are also hidden behind facades.
The benefits of this approach
- Plenty of storage space.
- Multi-level storage system (lower and upper cabinets allow you to effectively use all available space).
- Ease of cleaning (cabinet doors are easier to clean than open shelves).
- This storage system will look good in a kitchen of any size and layout.
Open storage areas
As a rule, when organizing open storage, wall cabinets are replaced with open shelves installed above the work area. Here, spices, cereals, tea and coffee, butter, syrups or toppings can be located.
The result is a modern kitchen. This approach certainly looks stylish, but requires regular maintenance.
Another disadvantage is the need to select special containers and storage systems for placement on shelves.
Open storage is suitable for large rooms where there is no need to save space. A large, spacious kitchen will be easier to divide into zones and design in an open style.
But in small apartments, open storage may look less impressive.
Earlier we talked about whether it is possible to buy large paintings for a small apartment.
