In pursuit of fashionable design trends, many completely forget that the interior should be not only stylish, but also functional.

Yulia Tychino, an expert in the field of design and interior design for the online publication Belnovosti, talks about five “fashionable” but extremely ill-considered decisions.

The most ill-considered interior design decisions

Firstly, glossy surfaces. A very impractical solution, especially when it comes to kitchen furniture.

Floor tiles should definitely be matte as well. A universal option for the kitchen is matte marble tiles.

Secondly, white walls. Also extremely impractical, definitely not an option for the kitchen.

Choose only washable paint in pastel shades.

Decorative MDF corners will help prevent external corners from getting dirty.

Thirdly, a minimum number of sockets on the kitchen backsplash.

A couple of extra sockets won't spoil the kitchen interior, but an extension cord on the countertop might.

Fourthly, black plumbing. A stylish solution, very popular in recent years.

But you need to take into account that after each visit to the bathroom you will have to wipe all the parts, and also that chips will be visible.

Fifth, a freestanding bathtub in a small room.

In the tight space between the bathtub and the walls, water and dust will accumulate, and cleaning will be extremely problematic. A built-in bathtub is much more practical.
