To some (except those who are completely ignorant of interior design issues) it may seem that combining different types of finishing in one room is absolutely not difficult.
In fact, the result is often a gaudy picture of materials that are completely incompatible with each other. For this reason, the expert of the online publication "BelNovosti", designer Yulia Tychino, offers you 3 combination options that have stood the test of time.
Paint and decorative plaster
One of the solutions that can be called classic is the use of decorative plaster in the interior. However, it should be remembered that too much of this material can make the room less cozy and harmonious.
Therefore, designers often use decorative plaster to highlight a certain area, decorating the remaining walls with paint. The main advantage of this solution is that even when choosing calm natural tones, the area with decorative plaster will stand out.
MDF and paint
This combination is often used in kitchen design, where MDF acts as an apron. It is recommended to choose a panel in the same tone as the countertop to create a harmonious image.
If you do not want to cover the entire wall with MDF, cover the part that is painted with glass - this is necessary to protect against water, grease and splashes from the stove and sink. You can also choose a bar counter and chairs to match the color of the MDF. As for kitchen facades, the ideal option would be a set with a concrete texture.
Laminate and tiles
In combined and adjoining rooms, such as a kitchen-living room or a living room-hallway, a combination of two types of flooring is often used to create a visual boundary between the zones.
One of the popular options is a combination of tiles with parquet or laminate. In this case, we recommend choosing laminate. Let the tiles be laid in the kitchen, forming an original geometric pattern, and the laminate in the living room. Considering the load on each of these zones, such a division will be optimal.
