Bedspreads on furniture – pros or cons: an interior design specialist’s opinion

It is no secret that in the past, using throws for sofas and armchairs was a very common practice.

Our parents and older relatives considered this technique to be an excellent way to protect upholstered furniture from dust and dirt.

However, today, according to the expert of the online publication BelNovosti, designer Yulia Tychino , this “element” looks outdated.

This is especially evident when thin bedspreads with contrasting patterns, typical of Soviet times, are used.

Such drawings can “break up” the interior, overload perception and become a source of visual chaos.

If you still want to protect your upholstered furniture from various types of dirt, it is recommended to use removable covers or neutral capes that do not have an active pattern.

Make sure that they blend harmoniously with the rest of the interior.

Alternatively, you can choose a single-color bedspread that will match other interior elements, such as curtains, carpets or furniture upholstery – this way you will protect your furniture from stains and create a unified and harmonious style in your home.

Earlier, the expert spoke about whether a coffee table is needed in the living room.
