It is difficult to imagine a living room without a TV. As a famous character from a Soviet cartoon said, it is the main decoration.

However, a TV in the living room can spoil the impression of the interior. Experts named the main mistakes that are made in almost every home.

Yulia Tychino, an expert of the online publication "BelNovosti" in the field of design and interior, told how to fit a TV into the interior of a cozy living room.

Mistake number one: the center of attention

Television is no longer a luxury. Modern technology is functional and even allows you to make payments, but there is no need to place it in the "red corner" because of this.

The emphasis should be on furniture, decor, plants. And the TV should occupy its modest place, like other household appliances.

Mistake two: dimensions

Modern models are striking in their dimensions. A screen almost the size of an entire wall can completely disfigure the overall space. It would be right to choose a screen size that would allow the equipment to become part of the interior.

Mistake three: placement height

Sometimes TVs are placed on stands, but more often they are hung on the wall. The correct placement is when the screen is at eye level. To do this, you need to sit on the sofa and choose a comfortable body position.

Mistake number four: stand

Buying a special TV stand is not the best option – it’s already outdated. A chest of drawers, a table or any other option will do.

Mistake number five: black spot

Whatever you say, but when the TV is turned off, it turns into a black rectangle. That's why designers suggest placing the TV among paintings, photographs and other images.
