The question of choosing the design of window sills and slopes has probably arisen at least once in the mind of every person planning a renovation.
Expert of the online publication BelNovosti, designer Yulia Tychino, readily told what you should pay attention to if you do not want these interior elements to have a boring and dull appearance.
The first thing to do is, of course, to choose the material.
Plastic window sill
This option is the most common due to its simplicity and low cost, and the combination with light plaster slopes, which reflect the most light, allows you to make the room bright.
By the way, you shouldn’t assume that a PVC window sill can only be represented by one white version with plugs installed along its edges.
In stores (or to order) you can find designer plastic window sills imitating stone, veneer and other textures.
Plaster
If you are considering this option, it would probably be useful to learn about a phenomenon called “dawn”, when the slopes are not made at an angle of 90 degrees, but have a slight extension from the room window.
In such a situation, the slope repeats the light ceiling, making the room brighter.
But there is also a downside that can ruin a modern interior – the window sill in this case will have the shape of a trapezoid.
Chipboard
Laminated window sills should be considered as a budget alternative to plastic products. You can buy a ready-made version or order it from scratch. In addition, it is possible to place an order with an edge, which is usually the color of the main surface or a contrasting shade.
Compact slabs
First, let's explain what kind of beast it is. Compact board is a pressed board based on several layers of kraft paper with a lamination pattern.
The advantages of such products include resistance to impacts and a relatively low price (compared to artificial stone). The disadvantages include the black edge, which is used by default by most manufacturers.
In addition to those listed, there are also options such as MDF + enamel, MDF in combination with micro concrete or concrete, porcelain stoneware, ceramic steps, as well as artificial or natural stone.
