Unfortunately for all those who decided to paint the walls, thereby updating the interior, defects often appear on the painted walls.
The most common of these are cracks, and designer Yulia Tychino, an expert from the online publication BelNovosti, suggested looking into the reasons for their appearance.
First of all, let us note that cracking appears at the moment when the paint gains strength, turning into a film.
And the first reason is the low elasticity of the paint coupled with the movable base.
This happens when a rigid composition, for example, alkyd paint, is applied to plasterboard, wood, gypsum fiber sheets and other materials that can deform due to changes in temperature, humidity, etc.
To avoid such trouble, it is worth preparing the base using putty with mesh reinforcement and primer, and also choosing more elastic paints, including acrylic, latex and others.
The second reason may be hidden in porous substrates that absorb moisture from the paint.
In such a situation, you cannot do without primers and preparatory layers of putty.
Finally, paint can crack due to mistakes during its application: if you unknowingly diluted it with too much water and as a result got too thin a layer.
