Every person who has lived in a standard house for some time is used to having a small bathroom.
Small spaces, often illogically placed water pipes or problems with ensuring comfort when using the equipment are just some of the problems that the owner will face.
However, there is good news: decorating a small bathroom will be successful if you plan it correctly.
Before deciding to purchase equipment and furniture, you should analyze the structure of the room and all its features. This will allow you to get a logical, clear renovation plan.
How to furnish a small bathroom?
It is necessary to proceed from the point of view of space, comfort of daily use and maintenance of cleanliness. It is much more convenient to wash the floor in a small bathroom when hanging furniture is installed in it. Thanks to this, it is easy to wash the tiles in one movement, without having to bend over and struggle to get into the corners. Also, do not forget about cabinets in which you can hide the washing machine, baskets for dirty laundry and hanging shelves.
In addition, you will have to take into account the fact that some of the equipment will require additional space. First of all, the space in front of the bathtub or shower. You should also leave the space in front of the sink unoccupied, thereby providing free access to it.
Small bathroom in a block – what to remember?
A small bathroom in a block creates many problems in the device, because it is often located in such a way that it does not have a window. This makes it necessary to create a ventilation system to eliminate the risk of mold in hard-to-reach places.
But the real nightmare is the pipes, which are often laid out in such a way as if they were specially designed to ruin any interior. In this case, you will have to adapt the furnishings to the protrusions of the pipes or do a general renovation of the entire room and change their location. The latter option is more expensive, but on the other hand, in old buildings it guarantees the replacement of old water pipes. This will improve the quality of the water, and therefore extend the life of household appliances, such as washing machines.
Shower or bath?
This dilemma is a problem for many. A bath seems more convenient for people who like to take long water procedures from time to time. But a shower is economical and quick. If possible, it is worth combining these two solutions. In this way, you can take both a bath and a morning shower every day.
However, for small bathrooms, it is much more cost-effective to install a shower in terms of saving space.
If the room has, for example, an alcove, then you can refuse a shower cabin combined with a bathtub and make a shower with a drain in the floor. This is a convenient solution, especially in those houses where a disabled person or a person with limited physical abilities lives.
On the other hand, if there are small children in the house, a high shower tray with a removable shower cabin would be a good solution.
This will allow children to bathe in a sitting position, like in a mini-bath, and older children will enjoy using the seats available in such shower trays.
