Design experts prefer to work with square rooms, but this does not mean that they cannot make a rectangular room functional and comfortable.
How exactly – expert of the online publication “BelNovosti”, designer Yulia Tychino , told.
The first piece of advice is not to place furniture along a long wall.
Instead, try dividing the space you have into visual zones.
Give one part of the room to the dining or work area, while the center of the other is, for example, the TV, placing a sofa and soft ottomans around it, and laying a fluffy carpet on the floor.
Please note: zoning can be done across, along or locally.
At the same time, it should be conditional in nature, since additional partitions or shelves will look, to put it mildly, not very good.
Another mistake that is often made when zoning using color is excessive contrasts.
Prohibited: abruptly changing color schemes, longitudinal color lines and bright accents.
Instead, you can try this option: paint the upper part of the walls, and wallpaper the lower part with a pattern in the same tone. This will make the room visually wider.
