Ideas that it would be nice to renovate the kitchen are dashed by the high cost of building materials. The volume of work does not add optimism either.
There is an option where you can get by with little effort – refresh the interior and save the family budget.
No other room in an apartment or house needs frequent renovation like the kitchen. Humidity, grease, and soot slowly but surely do their job. No matter how washable the wallpaper is, it will eventually come to an end.
But before you head to the construction market, you may want to explore some alternative ideas.
1. Wash and throw away
Everything that can be washed, should be washed. What can't be washed, is taken and thrown away. Also, don't be petty and save a scorched potholder, a soot-red teapot, cracked dishes and utensils that you use occasionally until better times.
2. Rearrange
This simple method allows you to create something new in a familiar space without spending a penny. The most you will have to do after such a transformation is to apply a fresh coat of paint to the walls.
3. Headset
The most expensive thing is not even the household appliances, but the kitchen set. You can update the facades by repainting them (if the material allows) or covering them with self-adhesive film.
If there is no other way out, then you will have to order new doors - this is cheaper than changing the entire set.
4. Shelves
Some people prefer to hide everything in the kitchen behind doors, others do not accept unnecessary movements and rely on open shelves or rails. The last two options both free up space and update the look of the kitchen.
5. Textiles
It is impossible to imagine a kitchen without a table, and a table without a tablecloth, which immediately makes the room cozy and homey. Another inexpensive way to update an old kitchen is to use curtains and drapes, even on open shelves.
And the last thing that remains to be done is to green the windowsill, decorate the walls with illustrations or art compositions, or simply repaint the boring and white refrigerator in some bright color that harmonizes with the overall environment.
