Designing a children's room interior is difficult even for experienced designers, because there are so many factors to consider. What can we say about parents who try to make the room cozy on their own.

It is impossible to cover all the intricacies of design in one article, but the 7 practical tips below will help you avoid common mistakes.

Tip one: planning first

If a bedroom, study, library or living room fulfills a specific role and is furnished accordingly, then a nursery is a whole world in one room.

Here you need to fit a bedroom, a work area, a play area, a mini-library, a place for toys, a wardrobe (a closet). All this needs to be not only placed in a limited space, but also to think through the changes that will occur in parallel with the child's growth. Therefore, it is so important to first plan where the bed, desk, wardrobe, shelves for storing books, etc. will be located.

Tip two: avoid bright colors

If you do not plan to do repairs and change furniture every 2-3 years, refuse bright wallpaper with cartoon characters, beds in the form of a car or a ship and other thematic things. As the child grows up, tastes will change. The most practical option is a neutral color of the walls, universal furniture that will not have to be changed for at least a few years. It is best to paint the walls.

Tip three: use decor

Of course, a child wants to have a beautiful room in his imagination. And with age, desires change. This is where a painted wall comes in handy, which can be changed with stickers, posters, garlands, sports attributes hung as decorations. A little girl will be delighted with a sticker with a princess castle, then her interests can switch to animals or characters from other cartoons, and a teenager will prefer to decorate the walls with portraits of his favorite singer. And on a painted wall, you can easily change the decor.

Tip 4: Use textiles

Textiles add coziness. You can buy voluminous curtains that create a castle atmosphere, make a canopy for the bed, use a tent, a hanging chair or their imitation, made by hand. Decorative pillows are a great decor option and children can play with them.

Tip number five: provide lighting

Even if the child is still very small, you need to think in advance where he will need light in the future. For example, plan in advance the place where you will install the desk and make sure there is a socket there.

Tip 6: Use decorative lighting

Conventional lighting is a necessity, but decorative lighting creates the atmosphere. A lamp with a projection of the starry sky will decorate even the most austere interior, and garlands will create a mysterious atmosphere.

Tip 7: Take care of your safety

Pay special attention to safety. Windows should be blocked, furniture corners should be rounded, poisonous plants, sharp and breakable objects should not be in the nursery. Choose the safest furniture and accessories.

When creating a children's interior, it is important to take into account the interests of the child, but it is also necessary to be able to negotiate. After all, children's desires are often not practical, so you need to find a compromise.
