For more than 10 years, stretch ceilings could be found in all trendy interiors, however, as we know, fashion is fickle, so now this interior element is gradually losing its relevance.
Expert of the online publication Belnovosti, designer Yulia Tychino, listed the reasons why stretch ceilings are becoming an anti-trend.
Some stretch ceilings give the room an overly “glossy” look.
Glossy stretch ceilings have the ability to reflect light well. Therefore, without properly designed lighting, annoying glare on the ceiling is guaranteed.
It would seem that here it is, the solution to the problem - matte ceilings. However, such designs are not without their drawbacks.
Any canvas can be easily torn - for example, when you rearrange furniture. It will definitely not be possible to cope with the tear without the help of a specialist.
Since such ceilings exert significant pressure on the walls, installing them in a room with plasterboard partitions is not so simple - you will have to strengthen the structure.
Finally, the film tends to yellow over time due to slight heating. Therefore, if you decide to stretch the ceiling in the kitchen, you should weigh the pros and cons several times.
However, stretch ceilings have not yet completely gone out of fashion, and with proper installation and competent design of the room they are a completely acceptable option.
