Life in Khrushchev-era apartments is familiar to many, but only a few know how to furnish such an apartment so as not to suffer from a lack of space.

Expert of the online publication BelNovosti, designer Yulia Tychino decided to intervene and tell how to turn even the most modest meters into a stylish and functional space.

1. Let's start with the bathroom. It turns out that to free up more space here, it is enough to install a hanging cabinet under the sink.

Please note: not just any furniture is suitable for this purpose. It must be light and elegant, and its color must match the color of the walls.

2. Smoothly move on to the kitchen - here we are interested in the set installed in the "food block". If you want a small kitchen to become more spacious, take a closer look at the furniture equipped with smooth facades, which, in addition, are painted in the color of the walls.

Light shades work best in such rooms, including white, light gray or pastel colors, but dark tones are recommended to be avoided.

3. Since we are talking about furniture, let's pay more attention to this issue. When choosing furniture for a small apartment, try to give preference to simple, light and elegant things.

If possible, look for options with legs - such furniture seems to "float" above the floor and does not clutter up the space.

4. Another worthy option is translucent furniture made of glass or acrylic.

Such objects “dissolve” in space and, unlike a bed made of natural wood or a huge wardrobe, do not look bulky and heavy.

5. Doors should be the same – translucent, not massive and dark. The best choice would be frosted glass or lightweight sliding structures.

You can also do without doors in places where this is acceptable – as a result, the apartment will become more open and bright.
