Easter is just around the corner. And that means it's time to think about painting eggs. The best colors are red, burgundy, and orange.
In principle, the Orthodox Church does not prohibit the use of other colors for eggs, but recommends not using dark shades.
This is understandable: we call Easter a Bright holiday, eggs are one of its main symbols, and if they are dark... Well, you understand.
Nikolai Savchenko, a priest at the Church of St. Peter, Metropolitan of Moscow in St. Petersburg, called red the main color of the Easter egg. All its shades are acceptable.
Red is a symbol of joy and glory. In addition, Easter in ancient times was associated with white, it symbolizes the light that shone from the Holy Sepulcher of the Lord, the incorruptible light, the light that penetrates and permeates everything, - quotes the priest "Gazeta.Ru".
Savchenko recommended that when choosing a color for painting an Easter egg, avoid black, dark brown or dark blue.
Such darkness, he said, "does not correspond to Easter joy."
And he added: dark shades are more suitable for Lent or Holy Week.
Previously, we talked about how to boil eggs so that they last longer.
