If your pumpkins are thriving like never before, don't rush to throw the excess into the compost heap - instead, use them to make pumpkin-apple juice.
In addition to its excellent taste, this drink is also incredibly healthy. To prepare it, you will need:
- 1 kg pumpkin;
- 2 kg apples;
- 2 oranges;
- 1 lemon;
- 300 g sugar;
- 250 ml of water.
Wash the pumpkin thoroughly, then cut it in half and remove the seeds. The diced pulp should be added to boiling water.
You need to boil the pumpkin for about 20 minutes, adding juice squeezed from both types of citrus – lemon and orange.
Use your spare minute to run the apples through a juicer.
Let's get back to the pumpkin - it needs to be chopped using a blender and boiled again with apple juice and sugar - for about 5 minutes.
Fill the jars with the resulting juice and screw them with iron lids.
When the glass containers, covered with a towel, have cooled, you can put them in the cellar for storage.
