In order to avoid making a mistake, many housewives decide to clean the mushrooms before cooking, but they are not exactly sure of their actions.

On the one hand, mushrooms bought in a store or at a market in bulk contain dust and dirt. But professionals do not advise rushing.

Housewives were told whether it is necessary to clean champignons before cooking.

Even experienced cooks believe that fresh champignons should be cleaned before cooking.

You don’t have to peel them if you’re sure about the mushrooms, but then you’ll have to wash your purchase thoroughly and even cut off the stem.

The reason is that the cap and stem of mushrooms can contain a lot of dust and dirt.

Mushrooms that were picked in the forest or elsewhere need to be heat treated. Only store-bought ones just need to have their skin removed.

How to clean

The skin is removed from the caps with a knife and then the mushrooms are washed in running water, but you cannot keep them in water for a long time, and especially not soak them - they will become tasteless.

Precautionary measures

If during the process it turns out that the mushrooms smell like chemicals, mold, or a basement, then it is better to throw them away.

You should also be wary of a sticky coating on the mushrooms, spots and a dark core. All of these are signs of spoiled champignons.
