Why you shouldn't dry dill for the winter: a tricky freezing method

Drying is a great way to store dill, but unfortunately, it is not possible to preserve the fresh taste, aroma and color of the greens 100%.

But freezing is quite capable of coping with the task. True, you need to act in a different way than usual.

Firstly, you shouldn't wash dill. Even if you dry the branches, they will still absorb water, which is why the dill quickly "freezes" and doesn't smell as strong.

Therefore, if you have collected dill from your own garden, consider skipping this procedure.

Secondly, do not use large bags for freezing.

The thing is that when you take these preparations out of the freezer to “pinch off” a piece, the entire “block” of finely chopped greens becomes covered with frost and ice.

Instead, use small freezer bags to store dill.

Frozen dill in this form - unwashed, finely chopped and packaged in small bags - can be added to salad: it is practically indistinguishable from fresh.
