Great Lent in Christian life is a time of strict abstinence from all worldly entertainment, including culinary pleasures.

You can hear that the main thing is not food, but the attitude towards it, so some people stop making a cult out of food, and some people look for Lenten versions of their favorite dishes, like this one: Lenten herring under a fur coat.

To prepare you will need:

  • potatoes - 2 pcs.;
  • carrots - 1 pc.;
  • beets - 2 pcs.;
  • seaweed (other seaweeds);
  • vegetable oil - 5 g;
  • lean mayonnaise - 75 gr.

How to cook

Potatoes, carrots and beets are traditionally boiled or baked in the oven. Other options include microwave, steamer, multicooker.

Then the vegetables are cooled, peeled and grated (usually on a coarse grater - a matter of taste).

Mayonnaise. You can buy lean mayonnaise, or you can make it yourself at home, using ripe avocado pulp instead of eggs.

Given the limited range of ingredients, you can diversify this vegetable assortment with zucchini or eggplant. They are cut into bars or cubes and fried in vegetable oil. To diversify the flavor range, you can add soy sauce when frying vegetables.

Then everything is simple. The prepared vegetables are laid out in a known sequence, only seaweed acts as herring - even seaweed will do.

The sequence can be as follows: potatoes, seaweed, zucchini (eggplant), carrots and beets. Of course, lean mayonnaise is applied to each layer.

Cool before serving.

Bon appetit!
