Why the gravy for meat in Soviet canteens always turned out so tasty: here's the recipe

If you want to diversify your diet and surprise your household with a delicious gravy for meat, then a simple recipe from Soviet chefs will help.

You need to prepare:

  • meat - 700 g;
  • water - 700 ml;
  • onion - 2 pcs.;
  • tomato paste - 1 tbsp. l.;
  • wheat flour - 1.5 tbsp;
  • salt, ground black pepper and peppercorns - to taste;
  • sugar - 1/3 teaspoon;
  • butter - 30 g;
  • vegetable oil - 2 tbsp.

Recipe

The meat must be washed, stripped of veins and cut into cubes, then fried in a frying pan with oil.

As soon as the moisture evaporates, the fire should be reduced to minimum. Also add the onion fried with sugar. Then pour water into the container and cover the pan with a lid. Stir occasionally.

As soon as everything boils, you need to take 3 small ladles of broth from the container into a separate bowl.

Then you need to put butter in a heated frying pan and pour in flour. You need to fry it until golden brown. You need to stir it so that it does not burn. Then you need to pour broth into the flour. The dressing should be uniform.

The resulting mass can be added to the container with meat. Then add pepper, salt, tomato paste.

All this should be simmered for about 40-60 minutes.

The aroma and taste of such a treat will pleasantly surprise you. The dish can be served with any side dish.
