Draniki are a popular and tasty potato dish that is regularly prepared not only in Belarus.
The cooking process cannot be called complicated, but sometimes cooks encounter certain difficulties.
The potato mixture falls apart in the pan, and instead of neat potato pancakes, you get an incomprehensible mass.
To correct this shortcoming, add an egg to the dough (1 egg per 5 medium potatoes). After mixing, you will get a homogeneous mass that will allow you to cook smooth golden potato pancakes.
Another nuance concerns potatoes. Experienced cooks advise grating the vegetable on a medium grater and squeezing out the juice before adding the egg.
Place the potato pancakes on a well-heated frying pan. On a very hot surface, the potato dough will set almost instantly and bake well inside.
Minced meat, onion or garlic play a role not only in the formation of taste. These ingredients also make the dough more “strong”, preventing it from falling apart in the pan.
