Are you sure your favorite face mask gives your skin youth?
A new study published in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology is shocking: one of the top beauty products contains ingredients that destroy collagen and cause wrinkles.
Scientists analyzed 150 popular masks and found that 30% of them contain components that disrupt the skin's lipid barrier.

Dr. Emily Carter , a dermatologist with 20 years of experience, told Vogue : “Many hyaluronic acid masks, if used incorrectly, have the opposite effect – they dehydrate and thin the skin.
Particularly dangerous are products with a high content of alcohol and synthetic fragrances, which are advertised as “moisturizing.”
User Alina from Moscow shared on her blog: "After a month of using the best-selling mask, my skin became like parchment. Now I spend thousands on restoration."
Experts recommend avoiding ingredients like SD-alcohol-40, limonene and methylparabens, which not only cause dryness but also provoke micro-inflammation.
How to avoid becoming a victim of marketing?
Dr. Carter advises: "Check the ingredients. If the first five items contain alcohol or fragrances, don't buy it."
An alternative is masks with ceramides, niacinamide and natural oils.
And user Sofia from St. Petersburg noted in the BeautyHack blog: “I switched to homemade masks with avocado and oatmeal – wrinkles smoothed out, and the tone evened out.”
After all, youthful skin is not a game of roulette, but a choice of conscious ingredients.
