Dementia can be indicated by a variety of symptoms. Most often, you can tell that you or someone close to you has been attacked by the insidious disease by changes in behavior.
People with advanced dementia become more irritable, suffer from forgetfulness, and have difficulty driving.
But sometimes the symptoms that herald dementia are completely unexpected.
One of them is the condition of the nails. This is the conclusion reached by Polish scientists.
A recent study found that the disease at an early stage leads to changes in the concentration of calcium, magnesium, mercury and other trace elements in the nails.
Because of this, the nail plates may unexpectedly become deformed or change color.
Of course, such changes can be caused not only by dementia, but also by other diseases.
But if you suddenly discover a similar syndrome, and there are no visible reasons for its occurrence, you should consult a doctor. Only a specialist can rule out possible health problems.
