Is it allowed to wear lenses in hot weather: there is a danger, but not as much as everyone thinks

There is a lot of buzz surrounding wearing lenses in hot weather.

For example, some people firmly believe that due to high temperatures they are dangerous for the eyes, as they can melt.

Fortunately, this is not the case - the melting temperature of hydrogels used to produce lenses is over 200 degrees.

Because contact lenses are in contact with your eyes, their temperature is always approximately equal to your body temperature.

However, there is still a risk when wearing lenses in hot weather: in low humidity, they can dry out.

To save them from drying out and losing their mechanical properties, you should use special eye drops when wearing lenses.

In some cases, doctors say that lens removal fluid can be used to moisten the lenses.

However, if you plan to visit a sauna or spa, it is recommended to remove the lenses to avoid sweat getting into the space between the lens and the eye, which can lead to infection.
