In the summer, cold coffee can be purchased in almost every coffee shop.
According to fans of this drink, there is nothing better for the heat than it. At the same time, doctors do not agree with this, albeit widespread, opinion.
As nutritionist Ekaterina Tyushina explained, cold coffee contains a lot of sugar, syrup and other sweet additives, which makes the benefits of this drink minimal.
As a result, in an attempt to quench your thirst and cool down, you throw a carbohydrate-fat bomb into yourself, which can cause a sharp jump in blood sugar, and because your body temperature drops slightly, you feel even hotter than before.
Therefore, anyone who wants to cool down should choose hot coffee.
It can lift your mood and even serve as a preventative measure against a variety of illnesses and depressive states, whereas drinks with ice can lead to spasms in the gastrointestinal tract.
That's not all: cold water causes mucous membranes to become overcooled (hello, tonsillitis), and ice that gets into the stomach blocks the production of enzymes and gastric juice (hello, undigested protein), says nutritionist Irina Merkulova.
Finally, the body will spend a lot of energy to heat the cold liquid for subsequent absorption - these are the reasons why cold coffee drinks are difficult to classify as healthy.
